Supplementary Notes 

We assigned the "IAU nomenclature" name for this cluster on the basis
of its 1950 position. 

IC 1257 has only been recognized as a Galactic globular cluster 
since Harris et al. (1997) published a CM diagram which reveals that it
is a highly reddened luster well beyond the Galactic centre. 
The diagram shows a well defined blue HB, but the observations do not 
extend faint enough to show the subgiant region or main sequence turnoff.
